About me

Let me tell you a little about myself. I’m Edith, a 27 year old Marketing Executive and Freelance Artist based in Wiltshire.

I have always been fascinated with the natural world and growing up was not averse to having a paintbrush in my hand. However it wasn’t until my grandma commissioned me in 2018 to paint some foxgloves that I became fixated on drawing floral forms. I was working as a part 1 architectural assistant at the time and felt I needed a change of direction. My new found floral curiosity and longing for something new lead me to Loughborough to study a Master’s in Graphic Design and Visualisation. My research focused on flower symbolism and I found myself entirely lost in the artistic history of flowers. All the while I drew, inspired by what I was reading.

After graduation I walked more or less straight into lockdown. Unable to find work I set up Edith Langford Art as a combined venture, offering a bespoke portraiture service and selling my floral designs on mugs. Eventually I secured a job in education and then spent a year in a boarding house at an educational needs school whilst continuing to freelance as a portrait artist. As 2021 came to a close I made the decision to prioritise my mental wellbeing and pursue creative work on a more full time basis. The following year gifted me the chance to reset, and I was able to dedicate more time to freelance work and also to learning the craft of picture framing. In 2023 I made the leap into the world of marketing, moving out of my family home in Oxfordshire to the Wiltshire countryside.

I look forward to settling into the next chapter of my life, and am very grateful to still find the time to draw and share my story with you.

With love, Edith
